  11. Notes on Beta Test
  12. ------------------
  13. The purpose of releasing the Beta Test Version of WinClock 3.00 is to allow
  14. users to test the program so that they can report any bugs that they find
  15. as well as make suggestions on features that should be added or changed.
  16.  
  17. Please note that since this is a Beta Test version, it is very possible
  18. that there are still bugs which remain to be fixed!
  19.  
  20. Also note that the documentation and help have been updated as much as
  21. possible to reflect changes that have been made
  22. in this version but may have errors or changes that need to be made
  23. before the actual release of version 3.00.  Please notify me of any errors
  24. that you find.

  26. Please see the documentation for information on installing and running 
  27. WinClock.

  29. When will the real version probably be released?
  30. ------------------------------------------------

  32. The real (non - Beta Test) version of WinClock 3.00 will probably be released
  33. within a week or two of the release of this Beta Test.  If any huge bugs
  34. are encountered, it may take longer to release the actual version.
  35.  
  36. An attempt will be made to add features that are suggested before the release
  37. of the actual WinClock 3.00.  Major additions to the program will probably
  38. not be implemented in this version but will be saved for the next version.
  39.  
  40. (Those of you that have made suggestions that have not been implemented in
  41. this version, please do not feel that I have forgotten or thrown out those
  42. suggestions; it is only that they are major changes that need more thought
  43. and time to implement!)

  45. A note to registered users
  46. --------------------------

  48.         This Beta Test version of WinClock is not being sent to registered
  49.         users but is being uploaded to bulletin boards so that both
  50.         registered and non-registered users may test it.
  51.  
  52.         Copies of the actual WinClock 3.00 will be sent out (as well as
  53.         uploaded to bulletin boards) when it is released.  The reason for
  54.         this is that it costs money to send out copies of WinClock
  55.         to individuals, so that it is more effective to send out
  56.         only the actual release version.  (The actual release version
  57.         will of course be uploaded to BIX, CIS, and other BBS's as well!)

  86. Below is a list of changes and additions to versions of WinClock from
  87. 2.07 and greater.

  90.     - Version 2.07        [September 23, 1990]
  91.  
  92.     Version 2.07 added Screen Saver Compatibility.    Setting this option
  93.     on will cause WinClock to be hidden (not displayed on the screen)
  94.     after a certain amount of time when the mouse or keyboard have not
  95.     been activated.

  97.     - Version 2.08        [September 29, 1990]
  98.  
  99.     Version 2.08 fixed a bug in the timers which caused the display to
  100.     show incorrect timer counts.
  101.  
  102.     Version 2.08 modified the timer start/stop button to make it easier
  103.     to use.
  104.  
  105.     Version 2.08 added the "Lock location" option which allows the user
  106.     to lock WinClock's location on the screen.

  108.     - Version 3.00        [October 5, 1990]
  109.  
  110.     Version 3.00 added many features to the "Alarms" section.  You can
  111.     now run a program at a certain time and enter the time for alarms
  112.     to go off in 12-hour or 24-hour format.
  113.  
  114.     The "Run-Program" option was the reason for the change of major
  115.     version number from 2.xx to 3.00.
  116.  
  117.     You may now specify the screen saver compatibility delay in
  118.     the form MM:SS (minutes:seconds) instead of just seconds.  (You may
  119.     enter the delay in seconds; it will be converted to the MM:SS form.)
  120.  
  121.     Bugs which caused the set time/date feature to function
  122.     incorrectly have been fixed.
  123.  
  124.     You may now specify the time to set in the set time/date function
  125.     in 12 or 24 hour format.
  126.  
  127.     The keyboard interface was updated to reflect changes that
  128.     were made in the last several versions.
  129.  
  130.     Previous versions of WinClock had trouble dealing with
  131.     configuration files created by different versions of WinClock -
  132.     sometimes causing memory or other problems.  This has been
  133.     fixed.    (Please note though, that, as in other versions, you
  134.     will have to re-select your Preferences when you first upgrade to
  135.     this version of WinClock.)

  137.     The time it takes for WinClock to write the configuration file
  138.     was reduced.

  140. How to pay for/register WinClock
  141. --------------------------------

  143.     WinClock is ShareWare.  
  144.  
  145.     You may make copies of this program and give them to others as
  146.     long as the documentation is provided with the program, both
  147.     unaltered.
  148.  
  149.     If you like WinClock, a registration fee of $7.50 would be
  150.     appreciated.  The next version is free (plus S&H).  You will
  151.     be able to receive support by mail, BIX, CompuServe, or FidoNet.

  157.     Registered versions of WinClock, which include a free update are
  158.         available for $15.00.

  163.     Customization of WinClock is available but is not included in the
  164.     ShareWare registration fee.  The fee charged for customization
  165.     will depend on the amount and significance of the customization.
